RISQS Audit 2024
In mid September 2024, Environmental Forestry UK Ltd successfully completed its annual RISQS (Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme) audit. This audit is a vital part of ensuring that we continue to meet the strict standards of safety, quality, and compliance that are expected in our industry.
This year’s audit was conducted remotely, and spanned 4 days and included the following modules:
- CORE
- Sentinel
- Safe Work Planning (SWP)
- Construction Design and Management (CDM)
- Principal Contractor (PC) Licence
The audit was a comprehensive assessment of the company, examining areas such as our Safety Management Systems, Compliance with Legal and Industry Standards, Insurance and Liability Coverage, Sustainability Initiatives, Employee Competency and Capability, Document Control Processes, Emergency Response Planning, and Continuous Improvement efforts.
Our continued commitment to maintaining and enhancing these standards was evident in the audit’s results: 0 Major Non-conformities, 1 Minor Non-conformity, 0 observations, and 2 positive elements. This achievement highlights the dedication of our team and reinforces our position as a trusted supplier in the railway industry.
The team where particularly pleased with the inclusion of 2 positive elements for the first time during a RISQS audit, the details of which are as follows, taken from our Audit Report:

“The company demonstrated suitable evidence for undertaking unannounced drugs & alcohol screening of 81% of primary sponsored workers, maintaining a high level of compliance and exceeding the requirement of 20% unannounced screening.”Positive Element:
“The organisation has implemented a focussed approach for mental health & wellbeing, through questionnaires, workshops and presentations. The organisations Safety Day has a mix of practical behavioural safety events, presentations and competitions. Further to this the company site documentation (especially task briefing sheets) have incorporated the Network Rail Lifesaving Rules, into the risk assessment process highlighting applicable rules for each individually assessed task or activity and associating a behaviour along with the control measures.”
